Ardun is situated in the temperate climate zone of central Margant, nestled between the Oktan and Vitgar Mountains. It is bordered to the west by the Holrothâm frontier, to the east by Bishur, and Fallmeade to the north, over the Oktan range. The vast desert of Khit serves as its southern border, with the seedy frontier town of Odding, at the edge of the desert, as it southern outpost. Ardun encompasses Lake Escaya, as well as the forest Annarya, home to more elves than any nation save Dor-Athan. Terian’s Pass offers easy passage over the Oktan Mountains into Fallmeade. Cailin Pass does the same for the westward path over the Vitgar range, leading to Dalenwyr and the southern reaches of Elgoth Forest.

Ardun’s population is like a microcosm of Margant itself, and can truly be called the ‘melting pot’ of the continent. It boasts populations of humans, elves and dwarves, all living in cross proximity and relative peace with one another. The human majority are the Glynn people who have occupied this area for centuries.

The current monarch of Ardun, Berenor Elding, shows much greater political and military insight than his predecessors, and his nation is prospering under his stewardship and coming out of a dark time. The four years of his rule has seen continued growth for the nation due to his skillful brokering of treaties with neighboring nations, and a greater participation in the Rundûl League.

The large Dwarven population in Ardun is due to the presence of the Dwarven house of Shâran, who were exiled from the dwarven homeland of Bir-Muzad generations ago. The Shâran kings sought refuge in the Oktan range, and today live peacefully with the humans of Ardun. The Treaty of Sitrunn Borir, signed in 1365SR states that the dwarves living in Ardun are given autonomy by the human monarchy. Dwarves may participate in the Ardun Military reserves, but this is not compulsory.

Deposits of laninstone lie in the Oktan Mountains, giving Ardun large reserves of the magical material, second only to Bir-Muzad to the east. The Shâran Dwarves mine the precious material and sell it to the Ardun nobility at discounted prices.

The largest elven community lives in the Annarya Forest, in the Canton of Elmridge, where they comprise a majority of residents under their Queen and Governess, Anavenya Quill. There are other elven tribes in the southern portion of the Newiron hills, as well as large populations in the cities of Elmridge and Morcliff. Elmridge is a particularly beautiful city which includes an elven district that is quite unique.

Ardun is currently threatened by the Order of the Red Blade, a band of Tûran invaders from the north. This force now occupies most of southwestern Fallmeade, and threatens to take its capital, Clydwyn. The leader of the Order, Ah Neran, has said his forces will soon enter Terian’s Pass, crossing the Oktan Mountains and invading Ardun. Currently the Ardun military is moving a large portion of its forces to the southern entrance of the pass.
